Dear all,
While we are preparing our next SoRU newsletter to share with you, we could not wait to share two exciting messages with you just now.
—
First, we are very happy to share that the RN22 Midterm Conference 2025 will be held at 29 and 30 October 2025 at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The main theme is titled ‘Caring during crisis: navigating risk and uncertainty in health, care and beyond’, but as always this event is very much open to other risk-themes as well.
Next to regular papers and creative sessions, and a Risk Tour through Rotterdam, we have four confirmed keynote speakers: prof. dr. Jens Zinn, who – given this anniversary edition of our midterm – will reflect with us on twenty years of sociology of risk and uncertainty, dr. Patrick Brown, who will discuss his critical sociological work on understanding the nature of vulnerability, prof. dr. Roland Bal will reflect on the ways in which counting counts in healthcare governance, and prof. dr. Marion Koopmans, a world-renowned virologist, will share with us her work in mitigating pandemics.
Before the Midterm, and also in Rotterdam, on October 28th we will host an in-depth PhD workshop on researching risk through interpretive and qualitative methods.
Please save these dates and keep an eye out for the full call for papers which we will share very soon.
